Below is our course catalog totaling 270 hours of training for initial certification and continuing education required for Addiction Counselors. All courses are mobile-friendly and run on any device. Each course is approved for a minimum of 6-hours of credit and meets the new New Jersey Addiction Professionals Certification Board, Inc. course requirements. Live Training Requirement for Master’s-Level Applicants
Persons holding a Master’s degree who, after having their course content evaluated, need additional hours to satisfy the 270 hours requirement, must complete all the remaining hours through a synchronous/interactive training experience, that is the courses must be taken either LIVE in-person or LIVE virtually (ie: ZOOM platform). Asynchronous (online) coursework for any of the remaining required courses that were not waived by the course content review is not acceptable as of April 23, 2021 determined the DCA-ADCC Committee.
A/B Course Pairing Requirement:
For any course sequence that includes an A and B component (e.g., 102A and 102B), both parts must be completed with the same provider. Learners may not take the A component with one organization and the B component with another.
When applying for initial certification In New Jersey, you are required to take 270 hours of courses; however, you are limited to 54 online hours for initial certification. Most of the courses provide six-hours of credit; however, some have been combined to offer up to 18-hours. Please be careful to make sure you are ordering the correct courses and that your total does not exceed 54 hours.
There are different regiments for continuing education/renewal credits. Please refer to the NJ Administrative Code for Alcohol and Drug Counselors for specific requirements in New Jersey. Each course provides six-hours of credit.
